Competitive program


About

The NGHA competitive program aspires to provide girls in U9 to U18 with the opportunity to play hockey in a fun and competitive environment.

Competitive teams are generally on the ice three to five times per week and may have additional training off-ice. Most teams commit to playing in two home tournaments and two away tournaments, which will include games on the Friday and include 3-6 games over that weekend.

While U11-U18 teams are formed in the spring, practices generally begin late August or early September. Once team rosters are registered through the Ontario Women's Hockey League (OWHA), league games begin shortly after. Games will continue until early February at which point league playoffs and provincial playdowns begin. The league playoffs will end in championship day in late March or early April, while the OWHA provincial championships generally take place in early to mid-April in the Toronto area. 

Tryouts

Tryouts for U11-U18 take place each spring, after provincials, while U9 tryouts take place in September. 

Fees

The following fees will depend on level and team:

  • Tryout fees (generally $175 - 300)
  • Team fees
  • Additional apparel
